WELCOME TO FERN'S HOMESTEAD!

Joshua 7, verse 11: "Israel has sinned; yes, they have even transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: yes, they have even taken of the devoted thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also; and they have even put it among their own stuff.

7:12 Therefore the children of Israel can't stand before their enemies; they turn their backs before their enemies, because they are become accursed: I will not be with you any more, except you destroy the devoted thing from among you.

7:13 Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow: for thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, There is a devoted thing in the midst of you, Israel; you can not stand before your enemies, until you take away the devoted thing from among you"

Ray C. Stedman in his commentary writes:

"The second obstacle in their path is the little city of Ai; but first. there is the story of the sin of Achan. He coveted something that was forbidden. He took it and hid it and when they went up against Ai, Israel was utterly defeated. Joshua fell upon his face before the Lord and said, "What is the reason for this?" (Josh. 7:7) God said to him, "Joshua, get up off your face. Don't pray to me now. There is sin in the camp. Go search it out." Finally, after searching through all the ranks of Israel, they filtered down to Achan and his family and Achan confessed.

Ai, then, is a beautiful picture for us of those inward problems arising out of our own lusts for that which God says we cannot, and must not have. We play the hypocrite and then discover that we are prey to every evil force that comes our way. We have no power to stand. We experience failure and defeat, as Israel did. But the minute this sin was confessed, they went up to Ai and it was no longer a problem. It was a battle, but no problem. Through it, they gained victory over the problem of the flesh."

Do you have a problem of the flesh beloved? While we are beginning our spring cleaning of leaven and examining our hearts for hidden sin, let's not forget to clean out anything that will defile our homes........such as video's, books, toys, games, music, jewelry, etc. Along with leaven, anything that is not pleasing to Adonai should be removed from our homes, as well. The Bible calls these things *accursed* and *devoted* to destruction, and by keeping these things born from darkness in our homes, we give HaSatan an open door to wreak havoc in our lives and those of our family.

Remember that Y'srael could not have the victory over their enemies until the accursed things were found and destroyed. Many of us posses accursed items in our homes instead of destroying them. Are you in possession of any items that need to searched out and destroyed? Remember that the Ruach HaKodesh cannot dwell in a polluted and unclean temple......and this includes our physical dwelling places as well.

Now may the Elohim of peace who brought up our Sovereign Yeshua from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Yeshua Messiah, to whom be the glory forever and ever!!!
